Count Your Blessings

Ephesians 1:3

Four guys decided to go mountain climbing. In the middle of the climb one of the guys fell off over a cliff. The other three, hoping to rescue their friend yelled down to him, “Joe, are you okay?” Joe answered, “Well, I’m alive, but I think I broke both my arms!” The guys replied, “We’ll toss you down a rope and pull you up. Just be still!” “Fine,” answered Joe.

A couple minutes after dropping the end of the rope, they started pulling their friend up. Tugging and grunting together they worked feverishly. When they thought they may have him about three-fourths of the way up, they suddenly remembered he said he had broken BOTH his arms. They yelled down “Joe, if you broke both your arms, how in the world are you hanging on the to rope?” Joe responded, “With my TEEEEEEEETH . . . !”

There are times, when it seems to all of us that we are hanging onto life by the skin of our teeth. God is under no obligation to make us prosperous or powerful regardless of what you may hear a preacher say. He has promised to bless us, but those blessings may or may not be physical. In fact, they usually are more spiritual than physical. One of the greatest blessings we are promised is the opportunity to give away to others what we ourselves have already been given (2 Corinthians 8:9-14).

“Count your blessings, name them one by one; count your blessings, see what God hath done” (Johnson Oatman, Jr.), then share your blessings with others.
