“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures…” (1st Corinthians 15:3-4)
We are just days away from the most memorable day in Christian history: Easter Sunday! The emphasis is on the resurrection which provides the proof that because Jesus lives we can live also.
The resurrection of Jesus is the Christian belief that Jesus Christ miraculously returned to life on the Sunday following the Friday on which he was executed by crucifixion. It is the central theme of Christian faith and theology. “On the third day He rose again in accordance with the Scriptures.” Three days after the Romans crucified Jesus, God raises Him from the dead. He follows this miracle of the resurrection with appearances to many people over a span of 40 days and then ascends to Heaven to sit at the right hand of God.
Do you believe that? If not, then your faith is in vain (empty or useless). If you say that you do believe, what difference has it made in your life? If the resurrection is real – and it is – then our lives should never be the same. It was never the same for the disciples following Christ’s resurrection. They were empowered with “resurrection power” and could not resist telling everyone, even if it meant their lives – and it did. Get all excited!
